Todmorden Sports Centre, Todmorden, West Yorkshire
Todmorden Sports Centre was built in 1990 but possessed inadequate fire escape capacity from the first floor sports hall. Calderdale Council engaged JNP Group to design a new escape route that required the construction of a bridge and associated abutment, to address the short-comings of the means of escape, so permitting a much higher allowable capacity for the facility.
The abutment was founded on mini-piles and clad in stone to be sympathetic with its surroundings.
JNP let and administered the contract of works.
