Mauldeth Road Station
jnpgroup were engaged by GallifordTry Rail to provide Civil and Structural Engineering services for the erection of a temporary footbridge at Mauldeth Road Station on the outskirts of Manchester.
Mauldeth Road Station is a busy and important station on the Manchester city centre to airport line. The temporary bridge was necessary during works to re-construct platforms at the station as part of refurbishment and improvement works, and was also required to meet all current DDA requirements.

The construction of the bridge was complicated by the presence of overhead electrification cables which required the bridge to be sufficiently high to clear the power lines and this dictated that a solid parapet was required. The lightweight structure and solid parapets of the bridge in an exposed location, and the ground being a clay filled embankment dictated that the design had to incorporate a scheme of piled foundations which became critical in the tight programme to replace the platforms.
The project was completed to the required programme.
