Ransom Court is a residential development of 150 apartments and houses on the former William Ransom factory site in the centre of Hitchin, Hertfordshire
Being on the banks of the River Hiz flood plain issues had to be overcome, and a variable depth of fill with a high water table meant that piled foundations had to be utilised.
The apartment blocks have under-croft car parks under RC podiums (transfer slabs) that support timber framed superstructures
