Partnering with local authorities in West Yorkshire
The jnpgroup consulting engineers offices in Brighouse and Sheffield have been particularly successful in building a constructive working relationship with local authorities in West Yorkshire.
- The initial success was in winning a Partnering Agreement with Calderdale Council to carry out the Building Regulation calculation checking function and providing a ‘Dangerous Structures’ service.
- Calderdale, like many other local authorities had disbanded their structural engineering section and the Council had sought two partnering agreements.
- One for the function just described, and a second one for a ‘design services’ which was intended to encompass all the project consultancy services that the Council may require on building projects such as building surveying, architecture, M & E engineering and structural engineering services.
- The second partnering agreement was awarded to a large international consultancy.
In the event, the local position of the Brighouse office (it is in the Calderdale Borough) and the more personal and immediate service that jnpgroup consulting engineers could offer proved very attractive to the various council departments and the structural engineering services that JNP have offered Calderdale has grown to encompass many public projects, including the refurbishment and extension of schools and other council buildings, as well as assisting with the redevelopment of public facilities such as a new open market in Sowerby Bridge.
The Yorkshire offices have also been successful in being placed on framework agreements for the provision of civil and structural services with both Bradford MDC and Kirklees Council.
The Brighouse and Sheffield offices have provided structural engineering services for the redevelopment of eight junior and infant schools in Bradford as part of the Government’s ‘Sure Start’ Programme, in particular, as well as providing civil and structural engineering services on a number of other projects.
Kirklees Council is the fourth largest borough in the country and the Yorkshire offices are delighted to have been successful in also having been accepted onto the Framework list of Engineering Consultants that Kirklees Council will use over the next three years to augment their own in-house expertise and resources.
jnpgroup consulting engineers are keen to build on this success elsewhere in the country and have now achieved agreements with Tubelines and Windsor & Maidenhead Borough Council.
