Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do at JNP Group. To showcase our clients and the relationships we have established with them, we are pleased to introduce the “JNP Group Meets” series. This time we meet Kevin Hancock from Infotec UK Ltd.
Tell us about yourself and your position within the company?
I’m Kevin Hancock, Project Head (Mechanical) at Infotec and I have responsibility for both mechanical design and project liaison. My main activities involve 3D mechanical design and detailed site surveys to gather the information that enables Infotec to produce both bespoke steelwork designs and commission the associated static strength and structural calculations required. It is imperative that I liaise closely and have a good working relationship with JNP to ensure that our designs are correct first time.
What does your company do?
Infotec is the first choice for innovative display solutions that meet today’s ever changing passenger information requirements.
For nearly 25 years Infotec has provided highly reliable passenger information hardware throughout the UK and the rest of the world. These include bespoke display solutions for metro systems in South America, light rail projects in the USA, on-vehicle systems in Canada and over 13,000 heavy rail displays throughout the UK.
Can you tell us about your business aspirations over the next few years?
Through continuous investment, innovation, continued reliability, and highly respected customer support, Infotec will continue to set the standard and supply award-winning passenger information systems. Many of Infotec’s products have been in service well beyond their life expectancy and by taking responsibility for the design and manufacture of our displays, we will continue to effectively manage obsolescence over the lifetime of the product. Working with JNP allows us to provide a quick and efficient one-stop shop that can meet the complex needs of both small and large projects.
Who are your clients?
Our primary market sectors are Rail, Bus, Tram and Metro and on-vehicle. Our high profile clients include Network Rail, Hitachi, Alstom, Thales, Telent and Siemens as well as all of the current UK train operating companies (TOCs).
What service did JNP Group provide for you?
We have used JNP Group for over 10 years now to provide structural verification of the support bracketry for our display, which are installed at different locations throughout the country. This service includes assistance with on-site surveys and advise with any structural related issues that may arise.
The works can be anything from installing a simple display onto a wall bracket with a waiting room or ticket office, to platform displays supported off canopy steelwork and mainboard installs at some of the major rail stations. Most recently, JNP Group have assisted us with our flagship full-matrix RGB LED main board display installs firstly at Manchester Piccadilly and then Waterloo and Victoria Stations in London. As a result, the UK travelling public now benefit from these brand new, enhanced customer information screens. Full colour LED matrix panels ensures more information can be communicated to passengers and with increased efficiency. The new display at Victoria is now the longest continuous CIS screens on a Network Rail managed station.
Infotec’s Kevin Hancock said, “We’re excited to be putting passengers first, giving them more information at a glance than ever before. With these complex installations, we are highly reliant on the partnership we have built with JNP, their undoubted expertise and look forward to working with them on many projects well into the future”.
How did you find your experience of working with JNP group?
Kevin Hancock explains, “Having expert specialists involved in a project at an early stage, who are familiar with what we do, the products that we supply and how we, and the rail industry work, is invaluable for us. You can only get this through close communication and years of working together”.
