Birkenhead North Station Footbridge

Improvements to car parking arrangements at Birkenhead North Station and Disability Access, required the construction of a bridge over the railway to link the new car park to the station.

The new two span footbridge provides access from the car park to the island platform and the main station building. Access for All was provided onto the bridge by  ramp steps and lifts.

The main challenges were poor ground conditions and limited space available for the installation of lifts and stairs.

Minimal disruption stipulations meant the piling, steel structure erection and cladding were undertaken during overnight possessions.
