JNP Group were engaged by Calderdale Council to provide civil and structural engineering services for the re-development of a town centre site in Sowerby Bridge.
The project was to provide a new open air market for the street traders of the local area as part of an urban regeneration scheme, as the existing market was located in an area that had become less popular over the years and was in need of extensive modernisation.
JNP Group initially acted as the Party Wall Surveyor, initially, in relation to the demolition of existing buildings on the site as well as providing civil engineering design services for the construction of a new tiered and fully serviced concrete base slab for the market stalls. Structural design of the market stalls and an associated glass pavilion, which acts as the main focus of the new market on the busy adjacent Wharf Street thoroughfare, were also provided, and the scheme also including the provision of new public conveniences in the car park to the rear, adjacent to the Rochdale Canal that bounds the north of the site.
The project has proved to be a popular re-development which JNP Group are pleased to have been associated with.
