Our Warwick team returned to volunteer at Ryton Pools Country Park this spring. The country park is a haven for families, walkers, and wildlife enthusiast. The 100-acre park has pathed, accessible routes for people to explore as well as bike trails.
Starting out life as a landfill site in the 1980s, the park rangers and volunteers have worked tirelessly over the last 40 years to transform the site into a wildlife habitat, comprising woodland, grassland, grazing meadows, and four pools. They have a methane-powered electricity generator that captures the gases from the decomposing landfill below and turns it into green energy.
Working alongside the Park Rangers, we helped clear sapling regrowth around Pagets Pool — a protected nature reserve that supports a diverse range of wildlife, including bees, frogs, grass snakes, and great crested newts. This work plays an important role in preserving natural habitats and maintaining biodiversity in the area.
The team quickly set to work, clearing a vast area around one side of the pool, meeting a friendly frog along the way. There was a great sense of achievement at the end of the day when the team looked back at the area they had managed to clear.
Here at JNP Group we actively encourage our teams to take part in volunteering projects. The opportunity to give something back to the local community while spending time out of the office environment is a rewarding way to boost morale, reinvigorate the mind, and strengthen team connections.
