Renewable Biomass Co-firing Plant.
Drax Power has undertaken a major £50M project to install a bio-mass fuel supply system to co-fire alongside the coal fired generators.
The biomass fuel is to replace up to 12.5% of the coal used at the World’s largest coal fired power station in North Yorkshire. JNP Group provided structural engineering services.

The biomass fuel arrives by either road tanker or rail from Immingham docks to a storage facility of four silos. A re-cycling conveyor system agitates the fuel to prevent stagnation and the build up of gases. It then conveys the fuel to the generators at the rate of 600tonnes/hour.
The conveyors rise to a height of 50metres prior to discharge into the boiler silos.
