Kennet Island is a significant housing development of 1,150 units, a crèche, retail units, a BMW and Mini dealership, a restaurant and a bar between Reading town centre and the M4.
JNP Group were appointed to prepare a Transport Assessment and Travel Plan to accompany a full planning application for Phase 3 of development at Kennet Island. This phase included a total of 546 dwellings.
JNP Group formed a key part of the pre-planning team, including transport planning, surface and foul drainage and flood risk. JNP successfully negotiated the scope of the transport work and completed the Transport Assessments in advance of the scheduled deadline. In addition, JNP proved that the original outline application overestimated the predicted trip rates by approximately 20%, which almost outweighed the 22% increase in number of units.
